Teleneurology continues to improve patient access and benefit hospitals. Massachusetts General Hospital compared consults before and after their tele-neurology program was implemented. This program provides neurology care to over 6 million patients in the New England region. Since 2000, the program has seen successful results, showing among other findings, a decrease in length of stay by 45 hours. This decrease contributes to hospital efficiency, resulting in lower costs and less burden on patients and family members. Using telemedicine, hospitals can diagnose neurology issues more efficiently, resulting in a better outcome for the patient.
